Dr Naina Gupta is a Lecturer at the School of Architecture and Landscape, University of Sheffield. She holds a PhD from the Architectural Association, London, and has taught internationally in Aarhus, Denmark.

Research interests span psychophysiology in architecture, interconnected water systems, urban living, sport infrastructure, internationalism, transnational histories, and performative spaces like theatres. Her work includes a forthcoming book on architecturally designed swimming pools (2025) and a paper on FDR, polio, and pool-based rehabilitation (2024).
Scientific awards include the RIBA Research Fund (2024) for her project on pools in India and London. She organized the 2023 symposium Swimming Pool Stories at the AA and collaborates with urban waterways initiatives.
Teaching bridges humanities and design, focusing on film as a research method. She has supervised diploma seminars on swimming pools and developed courses on architectural research methods.
