Nadine Fabbi is an Acting Assistant Professor and Director of the Canadian Studies Center at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington. She also co-leads the Arctic and International Relations Initiative. Her academic career spans over two decades, with an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of British Columbia (2015), an M.A. in Canadian Studies from Carleton University (1992), and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Seattle University (1987).
Her research focuses on Arctic Studies, particularly how Indigenous peoples shape international relations, Arctic governance, and policy. Key themes include Inuit self-determination, Arctic Council dynamics, and the intersection of spatial activism with social justice. She has spearheaded initiatives like the Arctic minor program, the Fulbright Canada Visiting Chair in Arctic Studies, and the Task Force on the Arctic, an undergraduate capstone program.
Fabbi has secured over $14 million in grants, including $11 million from U.S. Department of Education Title VI grants and additional funding from Canadian governments and organizations like the Mellon Foundation. Her edited volumes and journals, such as Arctic and International Relations Series, have been recognized, including the 2023 Best Special Journal Issue award.
