P. Whitney Lackenbauer is a Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the Study of the Canadian North at Trent University's School for the Study of Canada. He serves as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group and leads the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN) under the Department of National Defence MINDS program. His research spans Arctic sovereignty and security, Indigenous-state relations, and Canadian military history, with a strong emphasis on community-driven policy development and social justice.
