Nadia Makouar is a Researcher at Aston University, affiliated with the Research Centre for the Humanities and the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics. She holds a PhD from INALCO, Sorbonne Paris Cité (2014). Her research focuses on interpretive semantics and corpus linguistics applied to legal concepts, particularly hate speech and fake news regulation in Europe. She collaborates with institutions like the Centre for Language and Law to analyze legal discourse dynamics.
Education: PhD in Philology/Linguistics from INALCO (2009–2014).
Research interests emphasize corpus-assisted semantic analysis of legal texts, including parliamentary debates, online hate speech, and migration discourse. Her work bridges forensic linguistics, law, and sociopolitical contexts.
Publications (2022–2024) explore legal discourse in criminal responsibility cases, French parliamentary debates on hate speech, and neoliberal discourses in legal contexts. Collaborations include projects with Drs. Devine, Parker, and Harrington.
