Dr Nadia Haq is a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow at the School of Journalism, Media and Culture, Cardiff University, and an international visiting scholar at the Media Inequality & Change Center, Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. Her interdisciplinary research bridges sociology and media studies, focusing on anti-Muslim bias in British press coverage, digital activism, and the intersection of journalism with multiculturalism, citizenship, and social justice.
- PhD in Journalism (specializing in Muslim representation in media).
- Recipient of ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and AHRC funding for her online toolkit project on local journalism and Muslim communities.
Her work investigates how media structures, journalistic norms, and audience perceptions perpetuate or challenge discriminatory narratives. Recent publications include a monograph, Journalism and the Muslim Narrative: Power, Resistance and Change, and articles in journals like Media, Culture & Society and Journalism Practice. She actively engages with policymakers, media regulators (IMPRESS, IPSO), and community organizations to address media inequalities.
