Tali Aharoni is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specializing in digital news research, focusing on news audiences, trust, and avoidance. Her work examines the intersection of social media, journalistic practices, and future projections in media environments. She previously conducted doctoral research on trust in news at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she also earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees.

Her studies explore how audiences engage with news in the digital age, including trust dynamics, news avoidance mechanisms, and the role of social media. She investigates how journalists and experts co-construct future-oriented narratives and how these influence public perception. Her work often bridges communication theory with computational methods, such as algorithmic text analysis for evaluating large datasets.
Notable Achievements:
In 2022, Tali received three prestigious awards for her groundbreaking study on news avoidance, co-authored with an international team. Her research has been published in leading journals like Journalism, New Media & Society, and Digital Journalism.
Labs & Collaborations:
She contributes to the Digital News Project and the ERC-funded PROFECI initiative, which examines media projections in hybrid environments. Her work integrates qualitative and quantitative methods, including focus groups and algorithmic text analysis.
