Benjamin Toff is Associate Professor at the Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication and Director of the Minnesota Journalism Center at the University of Minnesota. His research examines news audiences, trust in journalism, and changing media practices in digital environments.
Toff leads the multinational Trust in News Project investigating how audiences evaluate journalistic credibility across different platforms and contexts. His book 'Avoiding the News' analyzes why growing numbers of people actively limit their news exposure despite unprecedented information availability.
Prior to academia, he worked as a researcher at The New York Times. Teaching responsibilities include courses on media politics and public opinion.
