Nachiket Chanchani

Nachiket Chanchani is Associate Professor in the Department of History of Art at the University of Michigan. His research spans South Asian art and architecture, Himalayan aesthetics, and cultural heritage preservation. He has held positions at multiple international institutions and serves as Consulting Curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Research interests focus on temple architecture in the Himalayas, painted manuscripts of western India, and the reception of traditional Indian art. His work explores how visual media shape identity and cultural memory across historical periods.

Education includes a PhD from University of Pennsylvania (2012).
