Gerald Kozicz (Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn.) is an academic researcher and educator affiliated with Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) and previously with the University of Vienna. He completed his PhD in Architecture at TU Graz in 2001, with research scholarships in Japan and Hong Kong focusing on Buddhist architecture in the Western Himalaya. Since 2005, he has led three Austrian Science Fund (FWF) projects on Indo-Tibetan architecture, art, and Himalayan cultural studies.
Research Focus
Kozicz's interdisciplinary work spans:
- Buddhist architectural traditions in the Western Himalaya
- Indo-Tibetan artistic and architectural heritage
- Cultural anthropology of Himalayan communities
- Comparative analysis of Asian art and archaeology
Teaching Experience
He has taught as:
- Instructor at TU Graz's Institute of Spatial Design & Institute of Architecture and Media
- Lecturer at University of Vienna's Institute of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies
