Attila Mócsai is a Full Professor at Semmelweis University School of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary, serving since 2015. He also directs German-Language Medical Studies at the same institution. His academic career includes roles as Associate Professor (2007–2015), Assistant Professor (2002–2007), and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (1999–2002). He holds a Medical Doctor degree (1993) and PhD (1999) from Semmelweis University, with additional qualifications including Habilitation (2012) and Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2013).
His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of innate immunity, inflammation, and osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. He has supervised 9 PhD students since 2002 and teaches medical physiology. Mócsai has received numerous awards, including the Academy Award from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2013) and an ERC Starting Grant (2008). He has led significant grants, such as the EU FP7 Cooperation grant (2012–2015) as coordinator and the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund Grant (2016–2020).
Active in academic service, he serves on editorial boards (e.g., Journal of Immunology), organizes international conferences, and chairs the European Phagocyte Group Steering Committee. His work has been recognized through high-impact publications, including 'Most Read' articles in J Exp Med (2013, 2014).
