Miklós Geiszt is a Professor of Physiology at Semmelweis University's Medical School since 2015. He holds dual roles as researcher and educator with over 30 years of academic service. His primary affiliation is the Department of Physiology, where he has held progressively senior roles including Assistant Professor (1997-2007) and Associate Professor (2007-2015).
Education: MD (summa cum laude, 1993), PhD in Cellular & Molecular Physiology (1998) from Semmelweis University. Completed additional training at NIH's Laboratory of Host Defenses (1999-2002). Credentials include USMLE certifications and a Hungarian Unlimited Medical License.
Research focuses on NADPH oxidase enzymes (Nox/Duox families), peroxidase functions, and redox biology. Key areas include collagen crosslinking mechanisms, endoplasmic reticulum redox regulation, and host defense systems. Over 30 peer-reviewed articles and 7 mentored PhD graduates demonstrate his impactful contributions.
Award-winning educator with honors for tutoring excellence (2012), research distinction (Huzella Award 2019), and grants including Momentum Grant (2011). His work has advanced understanding of oxidative stress mechanisms in physiological and pathological conditions.
Teaching spans 30+ years, including medical physiology instruction for Hungarian and international students. Maintains active laboratory research with collaborations at NIH and international conferences.
