Imre Vass is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Plant Biology at the Biological Research Centre, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Szeged, Hungary). His academic career includes roles as Deputy Director, Visiting Professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris), and Senior Researcher. He holds a D.Sci. in Biology from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1994), a Candidate of Sci. in Biology (1984), and a Ph.D. in Biophysics (1977) from József Attila University.
Research Interests: Focuses on Photosystem II structure/function, in silico modeling of photosynthetic systems, renewable energy from photosynthesis, plant stress responses, and photodamage mechanisms. His work bridges biochemistry, biophysics, and environmental biology.
Awards & Grants: Recipient of the Officer's Cross (2012) and Széchenyi Professor Award (1997). Led major European projects including the EU FP7 European Plant Phenotyping Network (2012-2015) and SOLAR-H2 (2008-2011). Active in international grant reviews for agencies in Hungary, Italy, Finland, and the U.S.
