Murray McLachlan

Murray McLachlan serves as Professor of Piano and Tutor in Pianoforte at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He concurrently holds the position of Head of Keyboard at Chetham’s School of Music and is Artistic Director of the internationally celebrated Chetham’s International Summer School and Festival for Pianists. McLachlan founded an international concerto competition for young pianists in 2007.

His research focuses on piano performance techniques, pedagogical methodologies, and music education innovation. McLachlan maintains active involvement in professional organizations as editor of Piano Professional and chair of EPTA UK (European Piano Teachers Association).

McLachlan's discography has received significant recognition including star ratings, 'rosette' and 'key recording' status in the Penguin Guide to CDs. His pedagogical approach has nurtured numerous students who have developed successful performance careers internationally.
