Harvey Davies

Harvey Davies serves as a Professor of Accompaniment, Teaching Fellow in Historical Performance, and Staff Pianist at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He specializes in collaborative piano, historically informed performance, and chamber music. His research focuses on British composers like Arnold Cooke, with a PhD (2022) on Cooke's chamber music.

Education: Studied piano with Helen Davies, David Parkhouse, and Ryszard Bakst at RNCM.

Research Interests: Historical performance practices, Arnold Cooke's oeuvre, and lesser-known Classical works. He has edited Cooke's 6th Symphony and Piano Quartet, and pioneered recordings of Cooke's chamber music.

Grants & Projects: Secured grants from Ida Carroll Trust, RVW Trust, and RNCM for projects like the 4-CD Arnold Cooke recordings (2018–2020) and performances of Berkeley's horn trio. Active in the Pleyel Ensemble, a chamber group dedicated to British music.

Teaching: Leads courses in Historical & Contextual Studies, Performance & Repertoire, and Musicology. Supervised PhD student Jing Ouyang on the London Pianoforte School.
