Montse Costa Font

Montse Costa Font is a Senior Lecturer at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) within the School of Rural Economy, Environment and Society. She is also affiliated with the Rural Development & Food Marketing Food Security Challenge Centre. Her research focuses on food marketing, food economics, and environmental policy, with particular interests in food supply chains, food security, and consumer behavior. She teaches on the Food Security MSc program at the University of Edinburgh, including the module 'Frameworks to Assess Food Security.' She has advised multiple PhD students and served on external PhD committees.

Education includes a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2006–2009), an MSc in Environmental Policy from the London School of Economics (2003–2004), and dual bachelor's degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Agro-industrial Engineering from the Universitat de Lleida.

Her research projects span topics like sustainable diets, food supply resilience, and collaborative supply chains in the dairy sector. Notable recent work includes studies on consumer acceptance of alternative proteins, challenges in Georgia’s wine industry, and the impact of Brexit on UK food supply. Awards include supervision of cum laude PhD theses.
