Diego Begalli is a Full Professor of Rural Economics and Appraisal at the University of Verona, Department of Management. He serves as the Delegate of the University for Knowledge Transfer and Relations with the Territory. His roles include membership in the Board of Directors of the Interuniversity Consortium INAS and evaluation committees at the University of Udine. He is also a member of scientific committees for journals like Food Economy and actively reviews for international journals such as the British Food Journal and Journal of Wine Research.
His research focuses on agribusiness and food marketing, rural development, and tourism. Key areas include wine market segmentation, sustainability in agri-food supply chains, and consumer behavior analysis. He leads the Agri-food System Research Group, which develops tools for managerial decision-making in agri-food businesses and promotes sustainable consumption models.
Begalli teaches modules on Wine Marketing, Agro-Food Policy, and Rural Tourism across various programs, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Viticulture, Oenology, and Data Science. He has published extensively on topics like wine marketing strategies, consumer preferences, and the impact of climate change on the wine industry.
His third mission activities include directing the Executive Master in Wine Business Management (CUOA Foundation) and managing projects funded by the Veneto Region, focusing on agro-food company internationalization and technology transfer. He collaborates with companies and public institutions to enhance regional economic development through knowledge exchange.
Begalli’s research projects include studies on sustainable wine management, consumer risk reduction in agri-food systems, and CO2 reduction strategies in vineyards. He has contributed to initiatives like the ENCOMPASS project addressing climate change awareness and the ChoiceHealthFood project exploring sustainable food choices.
