Mona Wischhoff, MA, is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Film, Theatre, Media and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, specializing in media history and colonial visual culture. Her work examines the intersection of photography, film, and colonial power structures through microhistorical analysis of German Colonial Society slide shows (1887-1914).
Research Focus: Her dissertation "Projected Photographs – Colonial Projections" investigates how colonial narratives were constructed and disseminated through slide lectures, analyzing production, distribution, and performance mechanisms within the German Empire's institutional and media frameworks.
