Christopher Nixon is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Study "Access to Cultural Goods in Digital Transformation" (University of Münster) since 2022. He previously held academic roles as a research assistant at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2013–2020) and Dresden University of Technology (2022), followed by a visiting professorship for Social Inequality and Social Policy at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
- Education: PhD in Philosophy and Philology (2021) from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz
His research bridges postcolonial theory, critical political theory, and visual studies, with recent work on digital access to cultural goods and ethical representation. The 2024 special issue Visual Justice explores fair visual representation in digitalized societies.
As a curator at Hamburg Historical Museums (2020/21), he organized exhibitions on colonial history and postcolonial engagement, including Re:Set: From Slide to Database and Ur & Alexandria. He has taught in art, architecture, and media programs at multiple institutions.
