Lydia Kleinstück is a Lecturer and Doctoral Student in the Department of American Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (FB 06). She has been actively involved in teaching and research since 2022, following prior roles as a Research Assistant and Translator Intern.

Her research spans North American Cultural Studies, Transnational Periodical Cultures, and Game Studies, with a focus on resistance narratives, historical representation in digital media, and queer perspectives in video game cultures. She also explores intersections with Translation Studies and Popular Culture.
Her forthcoming article on Through the Darkest of Times examines the portrayal of Nazi Germany in video games, contributing to discussions on historical accuracy, resistance design, and cultural storytelling in interactive media. Her work often bridges literary analysis, media studies, and transnational discourse.
Lydia serves as a reviewer, including a 2024 review of Wong’s Laughing Back at Empire, and has presented at conferences on digital gaming magazines and periodicals as literary resources. She maintains office hours in Germersheim, Germany, and is accessible via email.
