معرفی
Moi Exposito-Alonso is a Professor of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and an HHMI Freeman Hrabowski Scholar. His lab, MOILAB, focuses on understanding how species adapt to climate change through evolutionary genetics and plant biology. Key affiliations include the Center for Theoretical Evolutionary Genetics and the Institute of Innovative Genomics. The lab pioneered the GrENE-net global evolution experiment and employs CRISPR-based genome editing, remote sensing, and machine learning for biodiversity monitoring.
Research interests include genomic architecture of adaptation, eco-physiological traits in climate adaptation, and predicting genetic diversity loss. Notable projects include tracking species decline using satellite data and analyzing mutation rates in plant populations. Awards include the Tansley Medal (2023) and Princess of Girona Prize (2024).
Recent work highlights include a 2025 bioRxiv paper on rapid adaptation in Arabidopsis thaliana and a 2024 study on post-habitat-loss genetic diversity. The lab actively collaborates with institutions like the Carnegie Institution and Stanford, and participates in UN biodiversity policy discussions. Education and training opportunities are offered at all levels (PhD, postdoc, staff scientist).
Lab members have presented at major conferences (SMBE, ESA) and secured grants such as the NSF Biology Integration Institute (WALII). The lab emphasizes open science, publishing on bioRxiv and sharing data via GitHub and Dryad.
