معرفی
Robin Hopkins is a Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and Faculty Fellow at the Arnold Arboretum, Harvard University. Her research focuses on understanding speciation processes, particularly the role of natural selection in reproductive isolation. She employs interdisciplinary approaches combining molecular genetics, population genomics, and field experiments to study reinforcement in plants, especially Phlox drummondii. Hopkins leads the Hopkins Lab, emphasizing diversity, equity, and justice in STEM while addressing conservation challenges through evolutionary insights.
Her academic background includes significant contributions to plant evolutionary biology, with a focus on hybridization, pollinator-driven selection, and genomic signatures of adaptation. Notable achievements include the 2013 Tansley Medal for her work on reinforcement in plants. The lab fosters an anti-racist, feminist environment, prioritizing community-driven science and environmental justice.
Research interests span speciation genetics, pollinator behavior, and the ecological drivers of adaptive traits. Recent work examines delayed flowering in red-flowering plants and urban heat island effects on phenology, leveraging citizen science datasets. Grants and collaborations support investigations into floral trait divergence, hybrid speciation, and the genomic basis of reproductive barriers.
Labs/Teams: Hopkins Lab at Harvard University, collaborating with institutions globally. Current lab members include Carly Coughlin, Bridget Bickner, Austin Garner, and others advancing projects in plant evolutionary genomics and ecology.
