Rachel Binks

Rachel Binks is an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at The University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on genomics, evolutionary biology, and conservation of Australian flora, particularly within the Myrtaceae and Proteaceae families. She contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystems.

Her work includes initiatives like the Genomics for Australian Plants (GAP) framework, aiming to develop genomic resources for plant evolution and conservation. Key areas of expertise include genetic divergence, phylogenomics, and ecotypic adaptation in plants.

Binks has collaborated on projects such as the Reproductive and Genetic Ecology of the Australian Sea Urchin, funded by the Ecological Society of Australia (2007–2010). She has also contributed datasets on mangrove population genetics and sea urchin reproductive isolation, deposited in Dryad and Zenodo repositories.
