Professor Mira Kim is a faculty member at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her expertise spans Translation Studies, Systemic Functional Linguistics, and Personalised Language Learning. She has contributed extensively to research on language education, particularly focusing on enhancing linguistic competence through autonomous learning models and leveraging technology like GenAI for EAL (English as an Additional Language) students. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical applications, such as improving translation pedagogy and community accessibility of multilingual resources.
Research interests include Systemic Functional Grammar of Korean, its application to interpreting, and curriculum development in higher education. She has authored and edited books such as Korean Grammar: A Systemic Functional Approach (2023) and The Routledge Handbook of Korean Interpreting (2023). Her publications span journals like Applied Linguistics, Innovative Higher Education, and International Review of Korean Studies.
