Michàlle Mor Barak

Michàlle Mor Barak is the Dean Endowed Professor of Social Work and Business at the University of Southern California (USC), with a joint appointment in the Marshall School of Business. She holds the Lenore Stein-Wood and William S. Wood Endowed Chair. Her career spans over three decades, focusing on global diversity, inclusion, and organizational management. She co-founded the Research Cluster on Management, Organizations and Policy Transformation (MOPT) and led the Social Change and Innovation department at USC.

Education: PhD from University of California, Berkeley; MSW and BA from University of Haifa, Israel. Her work bridges social work and business, emphasizing inclusive workplaces, diversity management, and social good science. She authored Managing Diversity: Toward a Globally Inclusive Workplace, which won the Academy of Management’s George R. Terry Best Book Award (2007).

Research highlights include defining inclusion through the MBIE Scale and Diversity Climate Scale. Her articles explore inclusive leadership, cross-cultural dynamics, and the intersection of work-life balance with organizational policies. Awards include being inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work (2018) and recognition as a top 2% global scientist (2022).

Key contributions: Over 200 publications, mentorship of doctoral scholars, leadership in international conferences (Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio, 2001; Borchard Bretesche, 2003). She advocates for systemic approaches to social good, integrating environmental sustainability, equity, and collaboration.
