Michelle Batty Stanley is a Professor of Music (flute) at the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, Colorado State University, where she teaches graduate students. She also serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies for the College of Liberal Arts and Interim Vice Provost of Undergraduate Affairs.

Michelle is a renowned flutist specializing in solo, chamber, and orchestral performance. Her work emphasizes music appreciation education, commissioning contemporary compositions, and international outreach through performances and masterclasses. She has premiered over 30 new works and released recordings with Centaur and Navona Records, including a forthcoming 2026 album with the Quatra Duo.
As an active performer, she plays with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and has held principal flute positions in multiple ensembles. She has presented at major conferences such as the National Flute Convention and College Music Society meetings, and previously studied at Trinity College of Music in London.
