معرفی
Michel Bouvier is a Full Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal, and Director General of the Institut de recherche en immunologie et en cancérologie (IRIC). His research focuses on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), studying their molecular mechanisms, signaling pathways, and roles in drug discovery. He has held prestigious awards, including membership in the Royal Society of Canada and the Prix Killam (2021). Bouvier has supervised numerous PhD and Master’s students, contributing to advancements in pharmacology and molecular biology.
Education: PhD in Neurological Sciences from the University of Montreal, Postdoctoral training at Duke University under Nobel laureate R. J. Lefkowitz.
Research Interests: Molecular mechanisms of GPCR signaling, drug development targeting GPCRs, pharmacological chaperones for misfolded receptors, and receptor dynamics. His work bridges basic science with translational medicine, particularly in obesity and cancer therapy.
Publications: Over 200 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on GPCR signaling, biased agonism, and receptor trafficking. Recent work includes studies on kisspeptin signaling in cervical cancer and apelin receptor agonists.
Awards & Honors:
- Member of the Royal Society of Canada (2014)
- Prix Killam (2021)
- Prix Léo-Pariseau (2006)
- Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher (2014)
Grants & Collaborations: Lead researcher on multiple grants, including projects on pharmacological chaperones for obesity and GPCR signaling mechanisms. Partnerships with institutions like Bristol-Myers Squibb and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
Labs & Teams: Director of IRIC, leading a multidisciplinary team in immunology and oncology research. Co-leads initiatives like the Acuity-QC consortium for drug action prediction.
