Claude Perreault is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Medicine. He leads research at the Institut de recherche en immunologie et en cancérologie (IRIC). His work focuses on T-cell biology, immunotherapy, and cancer research, particularly targeting tumor-specific antigens and improving immune system function. He has supervised numerous PhD and Master's students and holds several grants from organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society and the Terry Fox Research Institute.
Research Interests: Perreault’s research explores T-cell development, immune self-tolerance, and cancer immunotherapy. Key areas include understanding thymus function, MHC class I antigen presentation, and developing vaccines against cancers like leukemia and ovarian cancer. His lab investigates how non-canonical translation and transposable elements influence immune responses and tumor antigen discovery.
Grants & Collaborations: He leads projects funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Terry Fox Foundation, and industry partners. Notable collaborations include developing therapeutic vaccines and studying tumor-specific antigens in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Awards: He received the Prix Léo-Pariseau (2011) for contributions to science communication. His work has been highlighted in multiple media outlets, emphasizing breakthroughs in immunotherapy and cancer vaccines.
Labs & Teams: Perreault’s lab at IRIC integrates proteogenomics, immunology, and clinical translation. He collaborates with teams like ThéCell (Therapeutic Cell Network) and the Montreal Cancer Consortium (MCC), advancing personalized cancer immunotherapy.
