معرفی
Sylvain Meloche is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal's Faculté de médecine, holding the Canada Research Chair in Cellular Signaling. He leads the Unité de recherche en signalisation et croissance cellulaire at the IRIC (Institut de recherche en immunologie et en cancérologie) and teaches in pharmacology and physiology programs. His research focuses on signal transduction mechanisms controlling cell proliferation and differentiation in normal and cancerous cells, particularly targeting MAP kinase pathways like ERK1/2 and ERK3/4.
- Current roles: Director of IRIC's High-Throughput Screening Platform, PI on multiple cancer research grants, and thesis supervisor for over 30 graduate students.
Research Interests: Molecular mechanisms of cell cycle regulation, ubiquitin-proteasome system dynamics, cancer signaling pathways, and therapeutic target identification. His work bridges basic research with translational drug discovery, especially for hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer.
Recent Trends: Recent publications emphasize immune receptor networks in neurobiology (2025), YES kinase-driven liver cancer models (2024), and ERK3's role in cardiac fibroblast function (2024). These studies highlight his lab's focus on signaling cross-talk between cellular systems and their therapeutic implications.
- Key awards: Canada Research Chair (2004-ongoing), Prix GENESIS (2009)
- Grants: Over 30 funded projects from CIHR, NIH, and industry partnerships since 2000
Labs/Teams: Leads the Signal Transduction & Cell Growth Unit at IRIC and collaborates with teams developing live-cell imaging platforms and drug-screening technologies.
