Michael von Schönermark is a Professor at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU), within the Institute of Classical and Church Music. He holds dual roles as a renowned bassoonist and academic, combining performance excellence with pedagogical leadership. Born in Berlin (1981), he studied at the "Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" and later at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin under Prof. Klaus Thunemann. His career includes positions as Solofagottist with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin (2004–2015) and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich since 2015. He is also a member of the Quadriga Fagottensembles.

- Studied bassoon under Prof. Klaus Thunemann (2000–2004)
Research & Performance: Specializes in classical and church music performance, with a focus on bassoon. His 2013 recording of Andrzej Panufnik’s Fagottkonzert, released on CPO, earned the ICMA Special Achievement Award (2015). Regularly performs at festivals like Schwetzinger Festspiele, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, and Davos Festival.
