Klara Hornig

Klara Hornig is a Lecturer in Song Interpretation (subsidiary subject) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock since 2012/13 and has held a concurrent position as Lecturer for Accompaniment at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2011. She specializes in art song interpretation, chamber music, and classical performance.

Education: Master’s in Song Interpretation from the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg (under Prof. Burkhard Kehring), piano studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Prof. Martin Hughes) and Lübeck University of Music (Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst). Completed secondary education at Berlin’s Carl-Phillip-Emanuel Bach Musikgymnasium.

Research interests focus on historical and contemporary art song performance practices, collaborative piano techniques, and the revival of neglected musical works ('Ostracised Music').

Award-winning performer: Three second prizes in major international competitions (Art Song, Chamber Music, Ostracised Music categories). Extensive masterclass training with renowned artists including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Thomas Quasthoff, and Brigitte Fassbaender.
