Marco Postinghel is a Professor of Bassoon at the Mozarteum University since 2005, concurrently teaching at the Mahler Academy of Bolzano and serving as a woodwind teacher for the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. He holds leadership roles in prestigious ensembles and has appeared as a jury member at competitions like the ARD Music Competition and Muri Competition. His career spans solo performances with major orchestras under renowned conductors, including Semyon Bychkov and Franz Welser-Möst, and collaborations with artists like Emanuel Ax and Gidon Kremer.
Education: Trained in Bozen with R. Santi, later under Klaus Thunemann in Hanover. Additional studies at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and teaching at Venice's Conservatorio 'B. Marcello'.
Research & Performance: Specializes in bassoon performance across classical, contemporary, and historical repertoires. Regularly performs with ensembles like Ensemble Modern, Accademia Bizantina, and Il Suonar Parlante. Engages with contemporary music through collaborations with groups such as Gruppo Maderna and Ensemble Recerche.
Awards & Recognition: Honorary membership in the Accademia dei Generosi (Florence), multiple international competition prizes.
Orchestral Roles: Former solo bassoonist of the Orchestre de Paris (1990–1994) and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (since 1994). Active with chamber orchestras like the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
