معرفی
Michael Wells is an Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Women's and Children's Health, where he leads the Global Reproductive Outreach & Wellness (GROW) research group. His work focuses on evidence-based research, innovative interventions, and global collaborations in maternal and child health. He has established himself as a prominent researcher in reproductive health, father involvement, and parental mental health.
Wells' research interests span reproductive health, parental mental health, father involvement in child-rearing, global health initiatives, gender studies related to healthcare, and quality improvement in midwifery and reproductive care. His work particularly emphasizes paternal mental health, coparenting dynamics, and LGBTQ+ parenting experiences within healthcare systems. He has conducted extensive research on father-infant bonding, paternal postpartum depression, and implementation of father-focused interventions in child health services.
His publication record shows a clear trajectory toward increasingly global health initiatives, with recent work expanding into Uganda, Kenya, and multi-country collaborations across 10 nations. Wells has developed expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, with a strong emphasis on implementation science and real-world application of research findings.
Wells has received research funding from the Swedish Research Council for projects including 'Developing a school-based intervention to improve participation among children with Developmental Coordination Disorder' (2021-2022). His work connects academic research with practical healthcare implementation, particularly through the GROW research group which focuses on quality improvements in prenatal, birth, and postnatal care, implementation of father visits at child health centers, and models of perinatal care.
