Dr. Erin Kennedy is an Assistant Professor at Oakland University's School of Nursing. Her research focuses on maternal-infant health, postpartum mental health in fathers, and implementing evidence-based clinical practices. She teaches in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, including BSN, RN-BSN, and MSN tracks.
Education: DNP from Wayne State University; BSN from University of Detroit Mercy.
Research Interests: Validation of screening tools for paternal postnatal mood disorders, optimizing family experiences during childbearing, and preventing pressure injuries via care bundles. She is currently analyzing postnatal depression/anxiety prevalence in new fathers across screening instruments.
Grants: Secured $10,000 for parental mental health research (2024) and $1,000 for father postpartum depression studies (2021). Collaborations include work with Dr. Kristen Munyan on pandemic stress and perinatal telehealth projects.
Professional Affiliations: President of Sigma Theta Tau Theta Psi Chapter, member of ANA, and Lambda Chapter.
