His research and artistic practice centers on sculpture and studio arts, particularly exploring the intersections between natural forms and consumer culture. His Geoform Series critically examines how consumer aesthetics shape our perception of landscapes, blurring the line between geological phenomena and popular culture. He also engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, such as the 2017 opera Eddie's Stone Song: Odyssey of the First Pasaquoyan, which combined music, performance, and visual art.
Although no scholarly articles are listed, his creative output includes major installations like Arrangement 3 (Space Oddity) (2011) and the Geoform Series, exhibited at venues such as 1708 Gallery and Dow Center for Visual Arts. His work often employs mixed media including steel, plaster, resin, pigment, and model trees.
Scientific and Artistic Awards:
- Pitzerker Foundation Endowed Fellowship
- College of the Arts Teaching Award
- College of the Arts Faculty Research Award
- Nominee, University Regents' Excellence in Teaching Award
McFalls has received a Fulbright Fellowship to Sweden at the University of Gothenburg, HDK Steneby, and has been artist-in-residence at Sculpture Space, Inc., Djerassi Resident Artists Program, and Australian National University. He has also been a visiting artist at Dartmouth College and Furman University. These appointments reflect strong external recognition and engagement in the global art community. While advising responsibilities are not detailed, his leadership of the Pasaquan & Bo Bartlett Center indicates mentorship and administrative roles.
He leads and collaborates through the Pasaquan & Bo Bartlett Center, a hub for interdisciplinary artistic exploration, and was central to the creation of the Pasaquan Opera project, demonstrating integration of performance, narrative, and visual art in institutional and public settings.
