Dr Michael Ledger-Lomas is a Lecturer in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies at King's College London, where he has taught since 2012. His research focuses on Religion and Theology in Nineteenth-Century Britain, with particular interests in Britain and Europe, Religious Internationalism, and History of Protestant Dissent. He co-edited The Oxford History of Protestant Dissenting Traditions (Vol. III: The Nineteenth Century) and directs the interdisciplinary ‘The Bible and Antiquity in Nineteenth-Century Britain’ project funded by the European Union.
- Education: PhD in History from University of Cambridge (thesis: ‘The Idea of Germany in Religious, Educational and Cultural Thought in England c.1830-1865’)
- Teaching: Undergraduate courses include ‘Turning Points in Christian History’, ‘Introduction to Christianity’, and ‘Nineteenth-Century British Christianity’
His publications include analyses of Victorian Christianity, Protestant Dissent, and Anglican Colonialism, with recurring themes in Biblical Publishing and Historical Scholarship. Key works examine the Legacy of the Church of England, Victorian Biblical Reception, and Religious Publishing Networks. He supervises PhD topics in Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century British Religious History.
