Dr. Robert Armstrong is a Professor of History at Trinity College Dublin, specializing in early modern British and Irish history with a focus on religious, political, and intellectual dynamics of the 17th century. His research examines peace initiatives during the wars of the Three Kingdoms, the history of Protestant dissent in Ireland, and imperial Britain's global engagements. He teaches modules on revolutionary Britain, imperial history, and the English Revolution's ideological dimensions.
His major publications include Protestant War: The 'British' of Ireland and the Wars of the Three Kingdoms (2005) and edited volumes such as Christianities in the Early Modern Celtic World (2014). He co-edits the Insular Christianity series exploring transnational religious developments.
