Professor Gabriel Glickman holds the position of Professor of Early Modern British History at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of History, where he has been a faculty member since 2015. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Pembroke College, Cambridge, and previously taught at Hertford College, Oxford, and the University of Warwick.
His research focuses on early modern British history with particular emphasis on English Catholic communities (1660-1750), colonial politics, and the intersections of religion and statecraft during the 17th and 18th centuries. Notable topics include Protestant and Catholic political dynamics, the role of religious institutions in imperial expansion, and intellectual movements like the Catholic Enlightenment.
His publications span monographs, journal articles, and edited volumes, including influential works such as Making the Imperial Nation (2023) and The English Catholic Community 1688-1745 (2009).
