Dr. Michael Koch serves as Reader in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour within the Organisations and People department at Brunel Business School, Brunel University London. His academic credentials include a Diplom-Kaufmann from Martin-Luther Universität Halle-Wittenberg, a Master 2 in Research in Human Resources Management and Social Relations from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a PhD in Management from EMLYON Business School & University of Geneva.
His research centers on career mobility dynamics, examining how individual career paths influence life satisfaction, mental wellbeing, and income through advanced quantitative methods like sequence analysis and structural equation modelling. Current projects include a British Academy-funded investigation into career attitudes of gig economy workers in the UK and Germany, alongside pandemic-related studies on psychological distress and productivity.
Recent publications reveal strong interdisciplinary trends spanning management, psychology, and public health, with recurring themes in talent differentiation, entrepreneurial career patterns, and socio-demographic impacts of global crises.
