Michael Jacobsen is a Lecturer at the Westminster Conservatory of Music, Rider University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Central Washington University and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Northern Iowa. With over 25 years of professional experience, he specializes in Suzuki Piano pedagogy and has served as President of the Suzuki Association of Washington State.
His contributions include developing the Conservatory’s children’s concerts series and Youth Opera Workshop, alongside authoring five operas for young performers that have been staged across the U.S. and Canada. He maintains a private studio in Plainsboro, NJ, and has been a key figure in advancing music education through innovative programs.
His research interests focus on applied music pedagogy, youth opera development, and the Suzuki method’s application in piano education. Though no specific awards are noted, his leadership roles and program innovations reflect significant contributions to music education.
