Michael H. Augenbraun

Dr. Michael H. Augenbraun is a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University. He holds leadership roles as Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at both SUNY Downstate and Kings County Hospital Center, and serves as Vice Chair for Administration in the Department of Medicine. He is also the Hospital Epidemiologist at University Hospital at Downstate.

Dr. Augenbraun completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Rochester, residency at North Shore University Hospital, and infectious diseases fellowship at SUNY Downstate. His research focuses on sexually transmitted infections (e.g., syphilis, herpes), hepatitis C, and HIV, with over 100 publications and two SUNY Chancellor's Awards. He advises governmental health agencies including the NYC Department of Health and CDC.

His clinical practice is at University Hospital at Downstate, where he accepts new patients.
