Dr. Marie Abdallah is a Clinical Associate Professor at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and serves as the Director of CFH at Kings County Hospital Center. She leads the Infectious Diseases, Travel, Sexual Health, and Center for Hope clinics at NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County. Her academic background includes medical training at the Lebanese University, residency at Staten Island University Hospital, and an Infectious Diseases fellowship at SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Abdallah’s research focuses on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), antibiotic-resistant pathogens such as gonorrhea and syphilis, and the epidemiology of infectious diseases. She emphasizes the importance of addressing antibiotic resistance, particularly in New York City’s diverse population. Her clinical work involves managing complex cases and advancing HIV education and care.
Her recent publications (2015) highlight studies on carbapenem-resistant bacteria, novel antibiotic efficacy (e.g., eravacycline), and β-lactamase inhibitor combinations. She actively contributes to teaching as the Associate Program Director for Infectious Diseases and values the clinical and research opportunities at SUNY Downstate.
