Dr. Mia Moody is a Professor and Department Chair of American Studies at Baylor University's College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Texas, Austin (2006), and multiple degrees from Baylor University, including a Master of Arts in Journalism (2001) and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology (1998). Her research focuses on media framing of race, gender, and political issues, with a particular emphasis on historical stereotypes in social media. Moody has authored/co-authored influential books such as The Obamas and Mass Media and Race, Gender & Image Repair Case Studies. She has presented widely at conferences like AEJMC and ICA, addressing topics like Black fatherhood in memes and digital activism. Moody is also an engaged educator, teaching courses on mass communication, public relations, and gender studies. Outside academia, she is a dedicated mother and advocate for fostering cultural competence through media analysis.
