Mesut Pervizpour is a Professor of Practice in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University. His research focuses on coupled phenomena in porous media, fluid/heat flow, and material response under dynamic loading. He integrates experimental and computational methods with parameter estimation techniques. Dr. Pervizpour has collaborated with organizations like the Delaware River Port Authority and PennDOT on real-time bridge health monitoring systems.
- Ph.D., Civil Engineering, Lehigh University (2000)
- M.S., Civil Engineering, Lehigh University (1994)
- M.S., Engineering & Technology Management, Portland State University (1992)
- B.S., Civil Engineering, Bogazici University, Turkey (1990)
Research interests include geotechnical engineering, wave propagation, non-destructive testing (NDT), and infrastructure monitoring. His work spans fiber optic sensing technologies, soil mechanics, and smart material systems.
His most recent publications explore distributed sensing systems, shock wave analysis in clay, and electrically assisted hydrocarbon transport. He actively contributes to infrastructure health monitoring through multi-agent systems and real-time data processing frameworks.
- Advised four M.S. students and over 15 undergraduates
- Served on four doctoral dissertation committees
- Co-adviser of Lehigh ASCE Student Chapter
He manages infrastructural projects involving bridge health monitoring and asset management systems. His expertise also extends to slope stability modeling and long-span bridge structural identification.
