Res.Asst.Dr. Merve Akbaş Kaplan is a Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, affiliated with the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Her work focuses on geotechnical engineering with a specialization in recycled concrete aggregates and sustainable infrastructure. She earned her PhD in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering from ITU (2020-2024), following a Master's (2017-2019) and Bachelor's degree (2014-2017) in the same field. Dr. Akbaş has received the 2024 Publication-Based Highest Performance Award and 2023 Teaching Excellence Award from ITU. Her recent work explores stiffness properties of recycled aggregates in road bases, liquefaction-induced settlements, and case studies on settlement reduction in historical sites. Over 20 peer-reviewed publications demonstrate her contributions to sustainable infrastructure and geotechnical innovation.
