معرفی
Prof. Recep İyisan is a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (ITU). His primary research focuses on geotechnical earthquake engineering, soil mechanics, and the seismic behavior of soil-structure systems. He has led numerous projects investigating soil liquefaction, basin effects, recycled construction materials, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
- Education: PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from ITU (1990), MSc in Geotechnical Engineering (1985), BSc in Civil Engineering (1980).
- Key Roles: Served as Vice President of the Department of Civil Engineering (2005–2008), and has been a faculty member since 1990. Active in administrative and academic leadership roles at ITU.
Research Interests: Prof. İyisan specializes in seismic ground response analysis, soil-structure interaction, and the use of recycled materials in civil infrastructure. His work addresses challenges such as liquefaction-induced settlements, basin edge effects, and sustainable pavement design using recycled aggregates. He has conducted extensive studies on alluvial basins in Turkey, including the Gemlik and Dinar basins, using both experimental and numerical methods.
Grants & Projects: Led projects on topics such as 'Effect of Bedrock Slope on Soil Amplification' (2019–2020) and 'Recycled Concrete Aggregates in Road Construction' (2020–2021). Collaborates internationally on seismic hazard mitigation and geotechnical innovation.
Labs/Teams: Engages in interdisciplinary teams at ITU’s Department of Civil Engineering, focusing on numerical modeling, field testing, and material science for geotechnical applications.
