Merilin Sikk is a Lecturer in Sports Therapy at Hartpury University's Department of Sport, joining in February 2021. She holds an MSc in Sports Therapy from the University of Gloucestershire (2015–2017) and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Tartu (2001–2005). Her research focuses on ethical issues in physical therapies, language use in healthcare practices, and the neurobiological effects of touch. She has also explored optimal exercise loads for public health and integrating counseling skills into therapy frameworks.
Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics, Sports Conditioning, and Undergraduate Dissertation supervision. She leads a pedagogical project on enhancing expertise in functional anatomy and physiology for strength & conditioning professionals (2022–present).
Before academia, Sikk worked in project management for local authorities, emergency services, and as an entrepreneur in sports therapy. Her interdisciplinary background bridges industry practice and academic research.
