Greg Henry is a Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning and Programme Manager for the BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning degree at Hartpury University, Department of Sport. He joined in January 2020 and leads the Hartpury Youth Performance, Education and Research (HYPER) Project, focusing on youth female athletes’ development.

His research focuses on long-term athletic development, particularly the impact of growth and maturation, change of direction performance, and eccentric training modalities in youth athletes. He is also deeply involved in improving internship experiences for strength and conditioning students.
His recent scholarly work centers on optimizing eccentric strength training in youth female athletes, with a 2025 publication analyzing set configurations in Nordic hamstring exercises. These studies fall within sports science, biomechanics, and youth athletic development, showing a consistent focus on practical, evidence-based interventions.

Greg actively supervises research projects and mentors student interns through the HYPER project. He has led initiatives on internship development and contributed to research on focus of attention in youth athletes. He has secured and managed multiple research projects, including externally recognized work that has contributed to employability in the field.
He leads the HYPER (Hartpury Youth Performance, Education and Research) Project, which delivers strength and conditioning services to young female athletes across Gloucestershire. He also oversees student interns and collaborates on research aimed at improving youth athletic development and coaching practices.
