Ben Drury is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the MRes Sport & Exercise Science at Hartpury University. He joined the institution in 2013 after working full-time in industry, designing curricula for BSc and MSc Strength and Conditioning programs. His research focuses on long-term athletic development, resistance training for youth athletes, and injury prevention. He supervises postgraduate students and sits on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning.
Education: PhD in Sport Science (University of Brighton, 2022), MSc Sport and Exercise Science (University of Chester, 2012), BSc Sport and Exercise Science (Aberystwyth University, 2008). He holds certifications including UKSCA ASCC, NSCA CSCS, and FHEA.
Research Interests:
- Eccentric resistance training modalities in youth athletes
- Female athlete injury prevention
- Sport science education standards
Prizes: Recognized for Poster of the Year at UKSCA 2023 and HE Expert in their Field (2020). Active in CIMSPA's Professional Development Committee to enhance industry standards.
Teaching: Modules include Skill Acquisition in Strength and Conditioning (MSc), Physical Profiling and Testing (MSc), and Youth Physical Development (BSc). Acts as External Examiner at St Mary's University for their BSc Strength and Conditioning program.
