Rodney Kennedy is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Sciences at the School of Sport, Faculty Of Life & Health Sciences, Ulster University. He has served as Course Director for the BSc Hons Sport and Exercise Sciences degree and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His career includes five years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with Ulster Rugby (2001-2006) and ongoing roles as a tutor/assessor for the UKSCA since 2011.

Rodney's research focuses on biomechanics and exercise physiology, particularly in swimming performance, athlete conditioning, and post-stroke rehabilitation. His work explores load-velocity variables, drag profiling, and body mass relationships in sports contexts.
Recent publications highlight advancements in in-water profiling techniques, semi-tethered swimming analysis, and stroke cycle optimization. His 36 research outputs (including 29 articles) have been cited 520 times (Scopus h-index: 13).
