Melissa Dinverno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University Bloomington, with affiliations in the Institute for European Studies and Gender Studies. Her research focuses on 20th-century Spanish literature and culture, specializing in García Lorca studies, memory and gender studies, archival research, and editorial theory. Currently on NEH Fellowship (2024-2025) working on her book project Mediating Memory: Federico García Lorca and the Legacies of the Past in Democratic Spain, she has also curated major museum exhibits at the Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada.

Her multi-disciplinary research combines archival studies with cultural analysis, examining Lorca's legacy through the lens of Spain's democratic transition (1975-1992) and its impact on contemporary socio-political debates. She leads the digital humanities project Mapping Material Stories, tracing transnational movement of Lorca-related archives.

- Memory in Motion: Lorca and the Archive (2025), a co-edited bilingual book
- Key chapters exploring archival theory, memory dynamics, and Lorca's posthumous publications
Scientific awards span NEH Fellowships, Fulbright Scholar recognition, and multiple Institute for Advanced Study grants. Her teaching excellence has been honored with Trusted Teaching Awards and MIND Award for impactful instruction.
